Abstract:In order to find out the low maintenance cost ornamental ground cover plants, the performance of3 native ground cover plants (Oxalis corniculata,Zornia gibbosa and Alysicarpus vaginalis) sowing in 3 typesof substrate (sand, mixed substrate of perlite and vermiculite with 1∶2 volume ratio, and laterite) by shoot cuttingand stem were studied. The result showed that the survival rate of all species propagated by shoot cuttingwas higher than that by stolon sowing, with the highest ratio of O.corniculata and lowest of A .vaginalis.Three species had different performance in three substrate.O.corniculata and A .vaginalis had greater survivalrate and better root growth in sand while Z.gibbosa had better performance in mixed substrate. But all 3 specieshad the lowest survival rates in laterite. The seedling of 3 species could be rapidly obtained through vegetativepropagation technique
