In order to investigate the mitigation effect of citric acid treatment on aluminum toxicity in perennialryegrass, perennial ryegrass ‘Victoria’ was used as a test material to study the seed germination and seedlingcharacteristics treated with different concentrations (0.2,0.5,0.8,1.1,1.5 mmol/L) of citric acid under250 mg/L and 500mg/L of aluminum stress by using the culture dish filter paper germination method. The resultsshowed that citric acid could not increase the germination potential, germination rate and germination indexunder aluminum stress, but it could promote the growth and SOD activity, decrease MDA content and relativeconductivity of seedling leaf.In general, the addition of exogenous citric acid could alleviate the toxicity of aluminumstress on perennial ryegrass to a certain extent
