Abstract:Ten Poa pratensis varieties were used to study the resistance to powdery mildew by resistance inoculation method, and the related physiological and biochemical indexes were determined. The result showed that there were significant differences in powdery mildew resistance among different varieties.Out of 10 tested varieties,Blackjack was the best, which was followed by Midnight 2,Shamrock and Park. The disease resistance of Liberator,Bluechip and EverGlade was relatively poor,in which,EverGlade was the poorest and extremely susceptible to disease.Cluster analysis showed that 10 varieties could be divided into 5 groups: group 1 (Blackjack) was highly resistant, group 2 (Midnight 2,Shamrock and Park) was moderately resistant, group 3 (Rugby 2,Stamina and Salt-tolerant moonlight) was moderately susceptible, group 4 (Liberator and Bluechip) was highly susceptible and group 5 (EverGlade) was extremely susceptible. The results of physiological and biochemical indicators showed that the contents of chlorophyll, soluble sugar and soluble protein in resistant varieties decreased slightly, while those in susceptible varieties decreased significantly after powdery mildew infection;MDA content of resistant varieties increased slightly, while it significantly increased for susceptible varieties; The free proline content,SOD,POD,CAT,PAL and PPO activity of resistant varieties increased significantly, but decreased for susceptible varieties. The research work provides a reference for powdery mildew resistance breeding work of Poa pratensis.
