Histone H3 is one of the important components of chromatin. The amino acid sequence of histone H3 is very conservative in higher plants. More and more studies have proved that histone H3 plays an important role in maintaining the stability of chromatin structure and the normal progress of cell division,regulating plant growth and development,and adapting to changing environments. According to the research progress in recent years,the article reviews the classification,structure and function,epigenetic modification of Histone H3,as well as CENH3-mediated haploid induction technology,and also prospects for future research directions.
