【Objective】 The aim of the study is to develop a kind of soilless turf culture media which could replace commercial peat, reduce the damage of cultivated land and resource consumption, reduce the production cost, and realize the resource utilization of bamboo waste.【Method】 Fresh high moisture bamboo shavings (60% water content) were treated by pack-ensilaging and compost methods, and their physical and chemical traits were analyzed. Six treatments were set: CK1(peat),CK2(peat + non-woven fabric),A1(ensilage bamboo shavings),A2(ensilage bamboo shavings + non-woven fabric),B1(compost bamboo shavings),B2(compost bamboo shavings + nonwoven fabric). Then different mixed volume ratios of peat and ensilage bamboo shavings were set:100∶0,75∶25,50∶ 50,25∶75,0∶100. The experiment of ryegrass cultivation was carried out to observe the growth of turf grass and the comprehensive quality of turf.【Result】 The results showed that the ensilage bamboo shavings were more suitable to be used as the base material for turf cultivation than the ones treated with compost, and the rollup rate of turf could be increased by using non ‐woven fabric. The turf grass growth and turf grass comprehensive quality score showed that the turf grass quality scores of the treatments using whole commercial peat and commercial peat: ensilage bamboo shavings volume 50:50 were better than other treatments.【Conclusion】 Ensilage bamboo shavings could replace 50% commercial peat for turf soilless culture, which was beneficial to turf grass growth, and could also save resources and reduce production cost effectively.
